Lynn Bardowski: Entrepreneur AND Inspiration

Be the best fill-in-the-blank you want to be, her father used to tell her. That lesson turned out to be one of the many inspirational points of view Lynn Bardowski’s parents instilled in her. It’s also one of many she relied on when she dumped her high-paying corporate job and entered the rocky world of entrepreneurship. 

With less than two percent of women-owned businesses generating more than $1 million in annual revenues, compared with 5.3% of all U.S. firms according to The Wall Street Journal, Bardowski set out to beat the odds, doing so one candle party at a time.

Back in the 80’s Bardowski thought she had it all: a great husband, two cutie-pie children and a good-paying corporate job. The money afforded her a nanny but she craved her full potential. She wanted to be home and raise her children yet she still needed income. Determined to make it work, Bardowski just had to figure out how.

After getting an invitation to a Partylite demonstration, Bardowski admitted to being a home-party snob but went anyway; never knowing it would change her life. Surrounded by candles, accessories and lots of fun gals, Bardowski became overwhelmed with the feeling that she had found her answer.

The warm and inviting flicker of decorative candles ignited her GLOW, a term she came to adopt as her own. She hurried home and announced to her husband she was quitting her corporate career to start a Partylite business, becoming the CEO of her destiny. He joined the chorus of family and friends who thought her crazy.

Working through the courage and determination needed to conquer fears that discourage so many women from attaining their dream, Bardowski found her inner “visionista,” and became one of those less than two percenters portrayed in the Wall Street Journal.

Finding that success, Bardowski passes on this wisdom in her new book, “Success Secrets of a Million $ Party Girl,” and wants all women to know they can take control of their lives.
